Music video Pre-production (April 2018)

Introduction: The following is the thought process and ideas in which would help direct the music video and the purpose that I was trying to portray. 


Genre: The genre of the music would be that off Hip hop music and singing. The reason why this would be the genre of the music video would be because the lyrics that are portrayed can be illustrative of the singer trying to find a lover or a partner.

Length of song:  The length of the song is 3:32, this is good because as it isn’t long then when shooting the music video it should be certain areas that help us to be reused so that the music video is professional. As the length of the song will be long then the scenes that are shown also would have to be long and thrilling for the audience to watch 

Style: The style of the music is that off a chilled type of relaxing type of music. This is good as when shooting the music video I believe that there wouldn’t need to be that much camera transition affects however a filter over the video would be ideal. The general style of style of the music video would be something that cool and unique and this would be portrayed in a way that will appeal to the target audience and make them want to watch the end of the music video.

Meaning: The meaning of the music can be related to that of the lyrics that are said however within the music. This is evident as the lyrics of the music get to a point where he is repeating;“Loving the sun and the trees” which states that he loves the summer time. The meaning of the music video can be shown in the music video constantly. with the different scenes that will be shown. The different scenes will; portray the meaning of the music in different lights and aspects. 

Imagery:  The imagery that music creates is that of a person on holiday or someone who has accomplished a lot yet wants love and comfort when comparing the different type of lifestyles that appeal to the artist. The imagery would also be portrayed due to the clothes that would be worn in the music video to help back the purpose and to also help with the progression of the music video.

Semiotics: This music focuses on the emotion of love and how it can be portrayed in comparison to money. This type of symbol would be good because it gives us a base idea of what props and themes to use within the music video. It can also be a constant theme that will show up in certain parts of the music video to also boost the purpose of the music video. 

Initial ideas for your video: The music video will be shot in multiple scenes; during these scenes it will be a mixture of day and of night. It will be done in multiple areas with a group of people and cars. The cars will be expensive to portray the rich type of lifestyle that is lived by rappers live. Then during the middle of the music video the scene would transfer to a room, with neon lights with actors dancing and still continuing the music video. This would be done and would appeal to the feel and the general genre of the song.

Basic information

The artist of this music is a male named who goes by the stage name of J£REMIAH, His actual name is Jeremiah and he was born in Wembley London. The song title is summer in the ends however other music such as Kritical Kushis also popular. The general and feeling of the song is that the song is that it is supposed to be a song that you can bob your head to whilst chilling and relaxing within the summer.  The target audience of this music video would be teens and adults as the terminology in terms of slang that are used can be seen to relate to them.  The video would be a mixture of different locations such as car parks, on the street, in stores (H & M) and in vehicles (BMW) whilst also going into clubs with neon lights.

Technical Information

The purpose of this music video is to promote a good time amounts friends and people in life generally. The artist has a free type of flow when he is rapping and it is seen in the song as something that just helps people to relax. As the purpose is to promote good times the music video will have to be something that is flashy and eye catching. It would also have to not use themes that can be related or portrayed as sad and gloomy such as black and white filters and the look of sadness and confusion.  This would mean that vibrant filters would have to be used and those who would be in the music video would also have to e happy and free, by jumping around and lynch of the vibe of the music. By doing this it will help with the purpose of the music video.

Financial Information

The music video will be done with resources that are already there. So there will be no money that would need to be put into it due to the fact that everything will be self funded as the equipment such as the camera and editing programs and applications are already owned. So there would be no point for paying or letting someone else edit or try and get their input for the music video.  No actors will be used and the song owner has given permission for us to use the music video for non profit use.
